St. Francis Prep Girls Tennis Hits 200 Consecutive Win Mark

October 28, 2011 | By New York Tennis Magazine Staff

The St. Francis Prep Lady Terriers ended their season undefeated after beating Archbishop Molloy 5-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Alley Pond Tennis Center. It marked the 200th straight victory for the Terriers and they have now gone unbeaten over the course of 14 consecutive years.

The Terriers finished 13-0 and clinched their 14th consecutive CHSAA Nassau/Suffolk crown this season. They have also won 12 straight Mayor’s Cup team titles in that time.

Since taking the head coaching job, John Brennan has yet to lose a match in his tenure with St. Francis. It truly has been a remarkable run for the coach and team as they look to win their 13th straight Mayor’s Cup in June. Next year might be a different story as seven seniors are graduating this year, but due to the school’s reputation, Coach Brennan shouldn’t have much difficulty in attracting some new talent for years to come.

St. Francis scores:
►1st Singles: Katie DeRienzo won 6-2, 6-1

►2nd Singles: Lisa Ventimiglia won 6-3, 6-2

►3rd Singles: Samantha Rosca-Sipot won 6-0, 6-0

►1st Doubles: Marylen Santos & Jacqueline Kelly won 6-0, 6-1

►2nd Doubles: Alana Davidson & Rossella Scarpa won 6-0, 6-0.
