The USTA has launched a nationwide online and DVD audition for the eighth annual U.S. Open casting call. In addition, a live open casting call will be held at the Queens Theatre on July 8. Winners selected from these auditions will perform “America the Beautiful” live in Arthur Ashe Stadium during night sessions at the 2014 U.S. Open, which will be held Aug. 25-Sept. 8.

“We are excited once again to host this amazing opportunity for children across the nation to showcase their talents on one of the biggest stages in sports”, said Gordon Smith, executive director and chief operating officer for the USTA. ”The annual casting call is one of the most anticipated events we host leading up to the US Open. With so many talented young stars out there, we look forward to hearing what this year’s lineup has in store.”

Children 12 years of age or younger (as of Sept. 8, 2014) are being asked to submit a recorded audition of themselves performing “America the Beautiful” a cappella online or in a DVD format by May 16. Contestants also can attend a live open casting call at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Tuesday, July 8 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges from the music and entertainment industry. A select number of submissions will be chosen to participate in a call-back that will be held the same day as the live open casting call. Participants for both will be asked to perform “American the Beautiful” a cappella individually in front of the judges. The USTA will make its final singer selections in mid-July. Those selected will receive a U.S. Open gift bag and tickets to their performance session, where they will sing in front of as many as 24,000 fans in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
