Bellis and Mmoh to Lead U.S. Junior Fed Cup and Junior Davis Cup

World number one junior CiCi Bellis of Atherton, Calif., who made international headlines with her upset of Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova in the first round of the 2014 U.S. Open, and top-15 junior Michael Mmoh of Temple Hills, Md. will lead the United States in the Junior Fed Cup and Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals–the premier world team competitions for players age 16 and under, set for Sept. 23-28 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Bellis, the 2014 USTA Girls 18s National Champion–the youngest since Lindsay Davenport in 1991–is representing her country after a breakout performance at the U.S. Open in which she became the youngest player to win a U.S. Open main draw match since Anna Kournikova in 1996. She’ll be joined by 2013 U.S. Open girls finalist and 2014 USTA Girls 18s runner-up Tornado Alicia Black of Boca Raton, Fla. and Sofia Kenin of Pembroke Pines, Fla., who represented the U.S. at the Youth Olympic Games last month in Nanjing, China.

Mmoh, the 14th-ranked junior in the world, who advanced to the third round of boys’ singles at, Greenwich, Conn., a USTA Boys 16s National Doubles Champion this year, and Gianni Ross of Burr Ridge, Ill., a singles semifinalist at the 2014 USTA Boys 16s National Championships.

USTA National Coaches Kathy Rinaldi and Eric Nunez will travel to coach the girls and boys, respectively.

The U.S. has won two Junior Fed Cup titles in the last six years, in 2012 behind Taylor Townsend, Louisa Chirico and Gabby Andrews, and in 2008, with Sloane Stephens, Christina McHale and Kristie Ahn. The U.S. has also won two Junior Davis Cup titles, in 2008 and 1999.

Other former U.S. junior international team members include Jim Courier, Andy Roddick, James Blake and Lindsay Davenport. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have also represented their countries in junior international team competition.
