The Pratt Institute women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Championship Saturday afternoon, winning all nine flights of the tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Top singles player Agata Jakubowska from Dallas, Texas was named HVIAC Player of the Year, and fellow sophomore Megan Basaldua from Whitestone, N.Y. earned league Rookie of the Year honors. They were joined by senior Gabriella Guerra from Littleton, Colo. on the All-HVIAC Team, to which the Cannoneers sent a league-high three members.

Guerra & Carson Stanch from Frieldswood, Texas complete the most successful tenure in conference history, winning the league championship in all four years of their career.

For the second straight year, Jakubowska captured number one singles and number one doubles victories. As she did in 2013, she teamed with Sarah Conant of Lowell, Mass. in capturing the top doubles flight, 8-3, over St. Joseph's Tathiana Pierre & Victoria Lo Bosco. In number one singles, Jakubowska scored a 8-1 championship win over Pierre.

Stanch captured the number two singles title with an 8-0 win over St. Joseph's Samantha Rossi. She then teamed with classmate Guerra for an 8-2 finals win over St. Joseph's Mary Edward & Madeline Moravek.

Conant, meanwhile, took the number three singles crown, shutting out College of New Rochelle's Samantha Gomez 8-0.

Named an All-HVIAC Team selection for second straight season, Guerra won two flights for a second consecutive year. In addition to her doubles win with Stanch, she knocked off Mary Edward of St. Joseph's, 8-0, in fourth singles.

Basaldua completed an undefeated season in her Cannoneers debut, earning a fifth singles title by knocking off Moravek, 8-3, for the crown. Sophomore Luija Zhu from Shanghai, China was successful in her first HVIAC Tournament action, topping St. Joseph's Deirdre Lavelle 8-3.

In third doubles, sophomore Emily Funk of Lake Ariel, Penn. teamed with Stefani Reynolds of Cicero, N.Y. for an 8-3 triumph over St. Joseph's Lavelle & Princess Baptiste.

The title marks Pratt's fourth straight, second under head coach Shawn Cummings, who was named HVIAC Coach of the Year, and seventh overall (2000-02, 2011-14).
