The Judges of Benjamin Cardozo opened up its 2016 campaign with a 5-0 sweep over Forest Hills on Thursday afternoon.

Cardozo was led by its singles play, as Christopher Tham, William Kofman and Kai Yuminaga won at first, second and third singles, respectively, without dropping a game.

Cardozo will return to action on Monday with a road contest against Francis Lewis.

The Patriots of Francis Lewis dropped its second straight match to start the season on Thursday as Bayside pulled out a 3-2 victory.

The Commodores got two big wins in the doubles flights. Vasanth Selvam and Viktor Blagojevic knocked off Adrian Tam and Ervin Wong 10-8 at first doubles and Alexander Blagojevic and Phillip Madamba won 10-8 over Justin Schreiber and Nathaniel Samuels at second doubles to lead Bayside to the victory.

Bayside is now 2-0 on the season, and will visit Townsend Harris in its next match.

The other contest in New York City on Thursday saw Dewitt Clinton defeat Harry Truman 3-2.
