The St. John’s women’s tennis team (15-3) will conclude its regular season with a Senior Day celebration against the Fordham Rams (17-1) at the St. John’s Outdoor Courts at noon on Saturday.

A pregame ceremony will honor the two seniors on the Red Storm roster, Anna Morozova and Stephanie Elgegren. They have both played key roles on several successful St. John’s teams; over their three-plus years in Queens, the Johnnies have compiled a 54-26 record in dual-match play.

Morozova has compiled 62 singles wins to this point in her career, including 15 this season primarily in the No. 2 spot. She has had great success in doubles play as well, especially this season with freshman Jessica Livianu. The duo has won 18-straight doubles matches this season, and Morozova ended last season by winning seven of eight doubles matches.

Elgegren has been consistent in her time with the Red Storm, winning at least seven singles matches in three of her four springs. She is excellent in doubles play as well, posting 35 doubles wins in dual-match play, seeing action at the No. 2 and 3 pairings for the majority of her career.

This pair of seniors has never lost to Fordham, beating them twice in the Bronx and once in Queens. Last season, the Red Storm shut out the Rams in the Bronx behind a strong day from Morozova and Elgegren, who each won a doubles match. Morozova also triumphed in singles play at the No. 2 spot.

The Johnnies will look to keep their momentum after last week’s historic victory. Head Coach Lauren Leo set the program record for most wins through the first two seasons at the helm in a 4-3 victory over Seton Hall. St. John’s has won six of its last seven matches and finished the regular season undefeated in BIG EAST play.

Fordham comes in as one of the hottest teams in Division I, winning its last 16 matches; the Rams’ last loss came against Drexel on January 25. Junior Estelle Wong was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Tuesday for her undefeated weekend against St. Joseph’s and Rhode Island.

After Saturday’s match, the Red Storm will get a 12-day break before the BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, S.C. which get underway on April 27. Last season, St. John’s lost to Xavier in the BIG EAST semifinals.
