The Engineers of Brooklyn Tech upset Cardozo in the PSAL quarterfinals on Monday afternoon, downing the Lady Judges 3-2 to move into the “A” Division final four in New York City.

As she has done all year, sophomore Nicole Semenov helped lead the way for Brooklyn Tech. She defeated Katherine Kachkarov of Cardozo 10-3 at first singles, and after Chelsea Williams beat Isabel Balilo 10-1 at second singles, the Engineers were just one match win away from a victory.

That win would come from its first doubles tandem. Liliko & Nanako Chung defeated Jaclyn Dortch & Katherine Kachkarov 10-2 to seal the deal for Brooklyn Tech and push into the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Brooklyn Tech will meet three-time defending champions Beacon, who defeated Tottenville 5-0 in its quarterfinal match on Monday.

The other semifinal will pit top-seed Bronx Science against the fourth-seeded Stuyvesant.

The Wolverines of Bronx Science continued its undefeated season with a 5-0 victory over ninth-seed McKee/Staten Island Tech.

In a matchup between two of the best singles players in the city, Sarah Rahman of Bronx Science knocked off Anastasiya Malinouskaya 10-6 to anchor the Wolverines victory. Perene Wang and Christina Huynh added victories at second and third singles to push Bronx Science into the semifinals.

Stuyvesant downed Francis Lewis 5-0 in its quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
