The New York Empire presented by Citi, New York City’s only professional tennis team, is proud to announce City Parks Foundation as the team’s selected charity for the Mylan World TeamTennis Aces Program. The team has also added Citizen Watch Company as a team sponsor for the 2017 Mylan World TeamTennis (WTT) season, which begins on Sunday, July 16 on Court 17 of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

City Parks Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to invigorating and transforming parks into dynamic, vibrant centers of urban life through sports, arts, community building and education programs for all New Yorkers. The CityParks Play programs provide free sports instruction, including tennis, to thousands of kids each year in New York City neighborhood parks.

“The New York Empire and City Parks Foundation is the perfect partnership,” said Michele Cope, New York Empire General Manager. “The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where we will play our seven home matches this summer, prides itself on being a public park and City Parks Foundation has a tremendous history of using public parks to better our community. We hope to raise a lot of money for this great cause through our play on the court.”

As part of the Mylan World TeamTennis Aces Program, the team with the most aces each night of the Mylan WTT season will receive $1,000 toward a local charity of the team’s choice. New York Empire’s John Isner, who holds the record for the most aces ever in a professional tennis match, will play in the opening home match of the season against the Philadelphia Freedoms at 5:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 16.

"We are thrilled New York Empire has chosen City Parks Foundation as their team’s charity this season for the Mylan World TeamTennis Aces Program,” said Heather Lubov, Executive Director, City Parks Foundation. “Through their generous support, we are able to continue to offer the next generation of tennis lovers the ability to discover this sport right in their neighborhood park.”

In addition, the New York Empire is pleased to announce Citizen Watch Company as the Official Timekeeper of the New York Empire for the 2017 season. Citizen will join Presenting Sponsor Citi, Platinum Sponsors GEICO and NYU Langone, Official Sponsors Bloomberg, Celebrity Screens and USTA Eastern and Gold Sponsors Sims Recycling Solutions, SNY and Teneo as New York Empire sponsors this season.

The New York Empire is coached by International Tennis Hall of Famer Gigi Fernandez and includes marquee players Genie Bouchard, Mardy Fish and John Isner. The roster also highlights Kirsten Flipkens, Maria Sanchez, Neal Skupski and Marcus Willis.

Not only will fans witness world-class tennis featuring their favorite pros, but they will also be treated to evenings of specialty food, music and non-stop action when they visit Court 17.
