The New York Empire presented by Citi took control early and never looked back as the team spoiled Andy Roddick’s debut in Philadelphia, beating the Freedoms, 25-18, at Michael J. Hagan Arena on Saint Joseph's University’s campus tonight.

The win improves the New York Empire to 4-4.

New York won the first four sets of the evening before the Freedoms seemed to take control of the mixed doubles and fifth set, 4-2. A frantic comeback by Kirsten Flipkens and Neal Skupski earned the NY Empire a 5-4 set win and the team’s fourth win of the season.
