The Beacon girls’ tennis team repeated as New York City PSAL “A” Division champions, defeating Brooklyn Tech 5-0 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

At first singles, Lorranie Bergmann defeated Alina Abramoff 6-4, 6-3, while Sofia Shen and Nikki Truszkowski won at second and third singles, respectively, to bolster the Beacon lead.

Naisha Rathi & Natalie Bergmann defeated Liza London & Naysa Joseph Gabriel 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and the second doubles pairing of Liza Bonomi & Maya Joy Ollivierre won 6-2, 6-3 to round out the scoring.

In a rematch of last year’s “B” Division Championship, Fort Hamilton was able to exact some revenge on Queens School of Inquiry, claiming the city title with a 4-1 victory.

Shakami Hotaki got her team off to a fast start with a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles, and the clinching match came from the second doubles tandem of Barbara Carrion & Julia Aksamentova, who won 6-0, 6-1 to seal the title.
